Cobitis illyrica, new species, from Imotski polje, Croatia, is distinguished from other Cobitis in drainages of the northern Adriatic basin by a slender caudal peduncle, a single, indistinct black spot at upper caudal-fin base or no black spot, lateral pigmentation zone Z1 and Z3 with few small spots; on postdorsal body, zones Z1-Z3 conflu-ent in males.
