Altmühlsee is a reservoir located about 44 km (airline distance) southwest of Nuremberg in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in the Bavarian region of Middle Franconia. Along with several large lakes in the surrounding area, it is part of the Franconian Lake District.
