Lac de Vouglans

Water type: Artificial lake

Continent: Europe
Climate: Temperate
Country: France

The Lac de Vouglans is the reservoir of the hydro-electric power station at Vouglans on the river Ain in the département of Jura in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France.

The lake lies on Jurassic rock crushed into north to south ridges by the Alpine orogeny. It is therefore long and narrow, though rather sinuous in plan. It is about 30 kilometres long though only 21 km in a straight line.
