Oak Lake in Lincoln, Nebraska, has a rich history dating back to the mid-20th century. Originally named Oak Creek Lake, this lake was a gift from Henry and May Bannister to the city of Lincoln in 1922. The purpose of this area was for general park use, and it quickly became a popular destination for recreation among Lincoln residents.

The lake, which was initially shallow, with a depth of about 4 meters, was rich in fish, with nearly 70,000 fish. During the 1940s, Oak Creek Lake Park became a central hub for recreation in the northwest part of Lincoln.

Today, Oak Lake Park is an important recreational destination for the communities in northwest Lincoln. The lake continues to provide fishing opportunities, making it an excellent spot for recreation. Recently, new playgrounds have been installed in the park, making it a pleasant place for the whole family.
