Pleasant Valley Reservoir was formed by diverting the Owens River as part of an engineering project to manage water in Owens Valley. The reservoir was created to control water levels and facilitate irrigation for agricultural lands. It also attracts visitors who enjoy fishing, primarily for trout and bass, as well as picnicking, camping, and other recreational activities on the water.
