Kallsjon Lake
Kallsjön is a lake in Åre municipality in Jämtland and is part of the Indal River\’s main catchment area. The lake is 134 meters deep, has an area of 158 square kilometers and is 382 meters above sea level . The lake is drained by the watercourse Indalsälven.
Lake Kallsjön, which has been regulated for electricity production purposes since the early 1940s, has an area of 156 km², is 134 m deep and is Sweden\’s 9th largest lake by volume, 6.1 billion m³.
Kall is now the name of the church village on the eastern side of the lake. On the western side of the lake is the village of Huså , which until the early 20th century was a mill site. At the southern end of the lake is the village of Bonäshamn . The lake\’s outlet is at the southern end and flows via Järpströmmen down to the municipality\’s central town Järpen , where the water flows into lake Little , which is also part of the Indalsälven.
