Sottern is a lake in Hallsberg municipality and Örebro municipality in Närke and is part of the Nyköpingsån\’s main catchment area. The lake is a maximum of 16 m deep, has an area of 27.8 square km and is 71 m above sea level. The lake is drained by the stream Nyköpingsån. During trial fishing, a large number of fish species have been caught, including perch, birch and bream. Sottern is the largest among lakes that are only located within Närke.
