Tersakan Lake

Natural lakes
Tersakan Lake is a tectonic lake with soda waters located in the southwest of Salt Lake , within the borders of Cihanbeyli district of Konya province.
It shrinks in years with little rainfall, dries up completely in some years, and revives in rainy seasons. When the water level rises, it sends its excess water to the Salt Lake.
Sodium sulphate is obtained from the lake. Tersakan, along with the nearby Bolluk Lake and Acıgöl, are areas where sodium sulphate is naturally produced in Turkey. It is estimated that Tersakan Lake has 630,000 tons of sulphate reserves in its waters. The pH value of its waters is 8.2.
The lake is considered an important bird area due to the presence of the swordbill , and many water birds, especially the white-fronted gull, spend the winter here. The large flamingo colonies in the Salt Lake and the Thin-billed Gull feed here. The Great Plover and the Crane breed in the area.
