The Balea River is a 25 km long river in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. It is particularly well-known because of its location near Balea Lake, which is a popular tourist destination in the region. The river itself flows through the Făgăraș Mountains, which are part of the Southern Carpathians.
The Balea River is often associated with the Balea Waterfall, a stunning natural landmark that is located near Balea Lake. The waterfall, which cascades over the rocks of the mountain, is a striking feature and a popular spot for hikers and visitors to the region.
Additionally, the Transfăgărășan Highway runs through this area, offering breathtaking views of the river, waterfall, and the surrounding mountains. This highway is considered one of the most scenic drives in the world.
