Jarpstrommen River
Natural lakes
Järpströmmen is a watercourse in Jämtland that flows between Kallsjön and Liten and is part of the Indalsälven catchment and forms a common stretch of 420 km. The river flows through the urban area of Järpen .
Järpströmmen has a power plant at the outlet of Lake Kallsjön at an altitude of 382 meters above sea level. The power plant was commissioned on November 3, 1944 in the municipality of Åre and was then the furthest one that produced electricity to Stockholm. The power plant was completely completed in 1947 and had then been designed so that it could withstand bomb attacks to some extent. Fortum, which owns the power plant, states in 2020 that the drop height is 67 meters with a capacity of 114 megawatts and a normal annual production of 420 gigawatt hours.
